The Library recently commissioned an asbestos inspection report in preparation for a capital project next year. That survey indicated that there are Asbestos-containing materials (ACM) in certain areas of the building.
In response, the Library immediately commissioned an air quality report which showed that the air in the Library is clean. The Library also contracted with an environmental services firm to develop an Operations and Maintenance Plan, to help ensure that the Library remains safe.

This plan will involve a full inspection of the building, regular ongoing inspections and, if recommended/necessary, scheduled Asbestos abatement projects.

As part of this plan, the Library will be performing a scheduled Asbestos abatement project on Wednesday, September 26. The Library will close at 5pm that evening and all work will be performed after the Library is closed. During this project the air will be constantly monitored and the Library will not re-open until results of air reports are received that indicate the air is clean.

If possible the Library will open as normal on Thursday, September 27. However there is a possibility that the schedule will be affected by this project. It is recommended that you call ahead or visit the Library’s website if you plan to visit the Library that day.
