You'll notice many changes at the Library over the summer. We'll be creating a new Young Adult area, highlighting the Pleasantville SEPTA parenting collection, enlarging the reading lounge (overlooking Bedford Road), finishing the new "micro-collections" area (to include computers, home & garden, health & fitness, ESOL and Shakespeare), improving the housing of our paperback collection, introducing a new area for laptop users and installing a local history corner. We're doing this by relocating existing collections and fixtures. For example, a large number of our reference books are either being dispersed throughout our 'circulating' collection or relocated downstairs to storage (where they will be available as an on demand collection). All of these changes are a direct result of what we heard during the strategic planning process; we were told that our patrons wanted a cleaner & more accessible collection, that our teenagers wanted their own area, that our reading lounge needed to be larger and also that more people wanted to be able to be able to plug in and use their laptops (and utilize our free high speed wireless network). We're hoping that the new layout will make it easier for visitors to find the materials they are interested in and find that their visits to, and time spent at, the Library are more rewarding.
