Library's Strategic Plan Released PDF Print E-mail

The Mount Pleasant Public Library has announced the release of Listening To The Community, a three year plan of service that is the result of a community based strategic planning process.

“The goal of the process was to enable the Library to identify and enhance the services most valued by the community; it was also intended to give us the information we need to ensure that the Library continues to allocate its resources in an efficient and responsible way” said Library Director John Fearon. “At every stage of the process our community was involved through a series of focus groups, a public meeting, one-on-one interviews, a survey and a steering committee made up of library staff, volunteers and patrons”.

“We believe this plan meets those objectives” he continued. “In addition it will help to protect those high value services, identified by our users, during these difficult economic times.”

Improvements already put  in place include a new homepage, weekly e-mail newsletters and the introduction of an after-school liaison and a program for middle-school students during the winter months. Other improvements planned for the next year include an enhanced new books area, the introduction of a young adult area and new lecture and author series for the public.
